Whatif

Last night, while I lay thinking here,
some Whatifs crawled inside my ear
and pranced and partied all night long
and sang their same old Whatif song:
Whatif I’m dumb in school?
Whatif they’ve closed the swimming pool?
Whatif I get beat up?
Whatif there’s poison in my cup?
Whatif I start to cry?
Whatif I get sick and die?
Whatif I flunk that test?
Whatif green hair grows on my chest?
Whatif nobody likes me?
Whatif a bolt of lightning strikes me?
Whatif I don’t grow talle?
Whatif my head starts getting smaller?
Whatif the fish won’t bite?
Whatif the wind tears up my kite?
Whatif they start a war?
Whatif my parents get divorced?
Whatif the bus is late?
Whatif my teeth don’t grow in straight?
Whatif I tear my pants?
Whatif I never learn to dance?
Everything seems well, and then
the nighttime Whatifs strike again!

How many How Much

How many slams in an old screen door?
Depends how loud you shut it.
How many slices in a bread?
Depends how thin you cut it.
How much good inside a day?
Depends how good you live ‘em.
How much love inside a friend?
Depends how much you give ‘em.

This quote comes from the book: “Positive Thinking Every Day.  An Inspiration for each day of the year.” It was a cherished gift from my mother.

Life isn’t always easy.  It can be rather difficult, but in the end it will all be ok (or even great).  If it isn’t, it just isn’t the end yet.  When faced with problems, know that there is indeed a solution.  With the right attitude and some effort, the problem will most likely start to solve itself.

Sometimes obstacles may seem too great to conquer, but rest assured, that somebody has almost certainly accomplished much more with much less.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

our presence automatically liberates others.
